Jake as Your Guide
When you book any one of the Sierra Brava Dream packages - you also book Jake Langley-Hobbs as your guide for the duration of your holiday.
Teaching skills.

Showing how to tie one of my rigs
Whether fishing in a group, a pair, or on your own, I am on hand to
give advice, help with fishing strategies, teach skills, and aid you in
any other fishing related matters.
I do not fish myself, as being a professional guide, I fully understand it’s your holiday – and not mine!
Sierra Brava is a very large lake. On your arrival at my house we will study a map of the lake, discuss tactics, and decide the best place to begin fishing, taking into account recent catches, weather, and how busy the lake is. I will not just ‘drop’ anglers into the swim that produced the week before, as all good fisherman know – the good spot last week may now be totally void of fish.
The carp in Sierra Brava are fairly nomadic as most large public water carp tend to be. Their whereabouts can depend on sudden changes in climate, and times of the year. I have caught carp within minutes, but it is quite normal to have to wait 12/24 hours for the carp to move in and find your bait at Sierra Brava – then it can all kick off; so a little patience on the first day or two is always required.
Most importantly I want you to catch carp – it’s that simple, so if a move is necessary, then move swims we shall. This could mean losing half a day whilst we pack up and drive to a new location, therefore, if fishing in a group, the whole group must agree whether a move is executed, and the whole group must move together. This decision is usually discussed the evening prior to the move the following morning, as quite often fish will be caught that night, and the move decision can then be overturned.
One of my wise suggestions when fishing at Brava is to never get too comfortable in your chosen swim – fish out of your bags. Packing up quickly can be the difference between catching that fish of a lifetime, and missing out. I do however understand that all clients are different and some just want a relaxing week sat in one swim soaking up the sun whilst downing a chilled beer.

As
your guide I am always there to assist you; however:
I do not set up all your equipment and pack it away for you. I expect all of my clients to be able to do this task themselves, be prepared to get stuck in, and by all means, feel free to make independent decisions. Whilst you are in my charge I am responsible for you, I therefore expect you to behave in a responsible manner at all times. I do not tolerate excessive drunken behaviour. |
I would prefer all anglers who book with SBD to be able to:
